Get the position number of a character or substring within text.
Copy this formula
=FIND("-", A2)FIND returns the position of the first occurrence of the search text, counting from 1. FIND is case-sensitive; SEARCH is not and supports wildcards. Both pair well with LEFT, MID, and RIGHT to extract parts.
The @ is the 5th character.
Case-insensitive
=SEARCH("abc", A2)SEARCH ignores case and allows wildcards.
FIND returns #VALUE!. Wrap in IFERROR: =IFERROR(FIND("-", A2), 0).
