How to Group Rows and Columns in Excel

Grouping rows and columns allows you to create an interactive outline, making it easier to manage large datasets by collapsing or expanding sections.

Select the rows or columns
Highlight the specific rows or columns you want to group together.

Navigate to the Data tab
Click on the 'Data' tab in the top ribbon menu.

Use the Group command
In the 'Outline' group, click 'Group' and select 'Group' from the dropdown menu.

Use the shortcut Shift + Alt + Right Arrow to group and Shift + Alt + Left Arrow to ungroup quickly.

How do I remove the grouping?

Select the grouped rows or columns, go to the Data tab, click the 'Ungroup' button in the Outline group.
