The Formula Bar is the input field located above the worksheet grid used to view, enter, and edit data or formulas in the active cell.

If cell A1 contains '=SUM(B1:B10)', the Formula Bar will display the formula, while the cell itself shows the calculated result.
Go to the 'View' tab on the ribbon and check or uncheck the 'Formula Bar' box in the 'Show' group.
